After using the North Face Recon backpack for the last year and half and logging over 175 miles with it I can now offer a solid review. The backpack at least for me offers the perfect amount of space for day hikes. I am a tall man that values space to store layers, snacks, tools, med-kit, water, water filter, and other items. The pack offers comfortable shoulder straps and ventilated padding on the back. The outer mesh pocket can quickly store your layers you chose to take off and on. The water pouches hold nalgene sized bottles or larger with no issues and have not lost their elasticity. The small outer pocket bearing the company logo offers a fleece lined inner which is ideal for sunglasses, keys, or phone. The large main compartment easily holds my camera lenses, snacks, and gear pouches. The mid pocket holds flashlights, pens, neck gaiters, ChapStick, and other small items and keeps them organized with sleeves and a small zip pocket. The pack also offers a laptop sleeve or hydration blader pouch.
Overall, I am very pleased with the simple look and overall comfort with this pack and will use it till it falls apart. I was able to purchase it at the North Face outlet store front for $40. I know, what a deal!
